Hey all. It's been an exceedingly busy week for me, so the posting has been a little eratic. To make up for it I decided to post three images today. They all seem to work off of a similiar idea to me and are a bit different than what I usually shoot, so I thought it was worth it to post them together. Enjoy and happy weekend!

Wing, 2009.

This is one of my favorite images from everything I have taken recently. Very curious to hear what people think about it. Hope you enjoy.

Kyla, Italy, 2009.

Due to the high temperatures and humidity outside, it seemed only fitting to post this photograph. Mostly because I wish there was an ocean that close to me right now. Sigh.

Seen, Italy, 2009.

This photo was recently included on Wanderlustagraphy, a photography blog curated by the exceedingly talented Amy Elkins. It has remained one of my favorite places on the web, especially for new photography, since she started it a few years ago. I would highly encourage any one curious to spend some time going through their archives. There is a huge amount of amazing stuff on there.

Distance, 2009.

Sorry about the delay in posting, it's much harder to do when on vacation. Things will get back to normal soon I promise.

For those interested I have just started doing some album reviews for an online magazine called Wears The Trousers. My first review should be up in the next day or two with another one soon to follow. Check it out if you get the chance, I'm rather excited about it.

Slate, 2009.

This is probably one of the strangest photo's I have taken, I feel its more creepy than what I usually make in a weird way. Maybe thats just me. I'd be curious for feedback on that. At any rate I'm gonna dedicate this photo to my friends Mendel, Jay, Christina and Matt who will probably have similar expressions later this after noon. Good luck on your test guys!

Ground Control

So I can't quite remember when I decided to do start doing this exactly but for the last year or two I have been trying to maintain a very specific photo diary of sorts. That of take-off and landings and the strange ride in between. I fly a lot. At least for someone on a modest income and no transcontinental business duties. And so, on the 8 or so minimum plane rides I take each year, I take at least one photo. As I'm flying back home early this morning I figured It would be thematically appropriate to include an earlier photo from this series.

NYC - Seattle, May 2009.

I'll be back early next week and I can't promise I'll be able to post in the meantime but I will do my best. Cheers to happy traveling.

Has anyone ever asked you: If you had a superpower what would it be? My answer has always been to observe the past, to be able to watch without interfering. I'm beginning to realize that this is why I love taking photographs. Cheapest form of time travel I know.

Dog Day Afternoon

So, I've been trying to do a post a day. All well and good, but I'm swamped with images for the first time in a long while and I'm excited. So, since there have now been three film posts in a row I think its time to spice it up again. Hope you're enjoying your summer as much as this pup. Ciao.

Triumphant

Finally, Finally, Finally, got film developed for the first time since graduation last year. I only just got the rolls back this afternoon so there will be much pouring over images and editing as the days continue - but for the time being, here is one that caught my eye off the bat. Tory says its very meta, I'll let you be the judge.

Because Colorado is beautiful in rain.

Going home again soon. Doesn't seem to matter how long I'm gone, the land will always captivate me.

State of The Union

So, in an effort to post more and after many talks with both friends and generous strangers I have decided to start posting more digital work. The two most recent posts are already examples of this shift, and for anyone who knows me it may seem a bit strange. Without access to the labs and an uncharted school-less landscape ahead of me I have decided there is really no point in being all persnickety over digital vs analog. If it helps me make work than so be it.

Right now I really don't have much in the way of a digital camera, and that is unlikely to change anytime soon. As such all of these posts will be labeled "Point-N-Shoot". Please keep in mind that these are shot with a small 3 megapixel camera with no initial intention to be anything other than family photos, essentially. As a result they will likely not be of the same file quality as my film work.

They will however mean more new work and a means by which to get me out of my head - which to my mind is a very good thing.

Found this photo while cleaning stuff up on my computer, reminded me that there is some good stuff left to post while I wait to get my new film back. This was actually shot by my girlfriend Tory on election night 08 but I love it so much I thought I'd post it here. Photos from Italy and out west are soon to come I promise.
